XML Information Retrieval Systems: A Survey
نویسنده
چکیده
The continuous growth in the XML information repositories has been matched by increasing efforts in development of XML retrieval systems, in large parts aiming at supporting content-oriented XML retrieval. These systems exploit the available structural information, as market up in XML documents, in order to return documents componentsthe so called XML elements-instead of the complement documents in repose to the user query. In this paper, we provide an overview of the different XML information retrieval systems and classify them according to their storage and query evaluation strategies.

متن کاملIntegrating Diverse Information Management Systems: A Brief Survey
Most current information management systems can be classified into text retrieval systems, relational/object database systems, or semistructured/XML database systems. However, in practice, many applications data sets involve a combination of free text, structured data, and semistructured data. Hence, integration of different types of information management systems has been, and continues to be,...
متن کاملComparing XML-IR Query Formation Interfaces
XML information retrieval (XML-IR) systems differ from traditional information retrieval systems by using structure of XML documents to retrieve more specific units of information than the documents themselves. Users interact with XML-IR systems via structured queries that express their content and structural requirements. Historically, it has been common belief within the XML-IR community that...
متن کاملDatabase and Information Retrieval Techniques for XML
The world of data has been developed from two main points of view: the structured relational data model and the unstructured text model. The two distinct cultures of databases and information retrieval now have a natural meeting place in the Web with its semi-structured XML model. As web-style searching becomes an ubiquitous tool, the need for integrating these two viewpoints becomes even more ...
متن کاملXML Information Retrieval: An overview
—Locating and distilling the valuable relevant information continued to be the major challenges of Information Retrieval (IR) Systems owing to the explosive growth of online web information. These challenges can be considered the XML Information Retrieval challenges as XML has become a de facto standard over the Web. The research on XML IR starts with the classical IR strategies customized to X...
